About Chuckey Chickens

Chuckey Chickens is a community-operated poultry ranch located in the Smokey Mountains of Eastern Tennessee. Our members have raised free-range and pastured poultry here for generations.  We are dedicated to raising rare, heritage and unusual breeds of poultry using the natural resources we have in this gorgeous location:  the fresh mountain air, the pure water of Horse Creek, and the wisdom and experience of generations of poultry farmers here in Chuckey, Tennessee.

We are located at the base of Greystone Mountain in the Smokey Mountain range.  The Cherokee National Forest is our backyard.  Horse Creek flows from the top of the mountain, through Cherokee National Forest and right through our ranch.

The Appalachian Trail runs across the top of the mountain and is accessible via a very beautiful mountain trail.  There is a Civil War graveyard at the top of the mountain.  Here, you can see Horse Creek as it runs through our property.

We raise a wide variety of rare and heritage breed chickens, but we specialize in Black Copper and Birchen Marans, Serama, Buff Laced Brahmas, Coronation Sussex and Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons.  On any given day, our pens also hold Buff, Black, Lavender Orpingtons, Welsummer, Dominiques, Salmon Faverolles, and several colors of Silkies.

We are certified by the State of Tennessee in the National Poultry Improvement Program, NPIP #63-410.

Please contact us to find out what breeds we are working on at this time.  Our blog, which can be accessed via the menu at left, gives you the current update on all that's going on at the ranch.
